About

Junyi Xie (b.1999, China) is an artist and designer, works contain sculpture, ceramic, painting, illustration, and spatial design, exploring fluidity, transience, and the latent poetry of everyday life. Practicing primarily in clay, plaster, latex, resin, plastic, acrylic paint, ice-dyed textile, and digital software. She constructs colorful, twisted, and illusionistic forms that hover between familiarity and unfamiliarity in ordinary.

Junyi’s practice originates in close observation of everyday life, particularly daily encounters with everyday routines and disposable objects. She transforms those momentary phenomena into sculptural forms that suspend function and disrupt habitual perception. Material choice is central to her artistic language. By working with industrial and consumer materials often associated with disposability, she challenges traditional sculptural values of solidity and endurance. Plastic bends, resin freezes movement, and colour becomes excessive and seductive. Materials are treated as active agents, carrying traces of time, emotion, and memory rather than serving as neutral supports. Ordinary materials are reconfigured into soft, semi-transparent, and highly saturated structures, capturing fleeting moments of flow and instability. Her works exist in a liminal space between reality and illusion, permanence and collapse.
